The day all NFL fans have been waiting for is finally upon us. It seems like it was only yesterday that the Panthers were once again being picked to win the Super Bowl only to fail miserably. Personally I think we have a great chance to watch a good game, and because it's my blog I get to tell you why:
1) The Giant's Pass Rush: For this to stay close at all the G-men need to pressure Tom Brady- Mix it up, hell maybe even play some 3-4 to screw with him, give him different looks of the same blitz pattern yadda yadda yadda... th only way this is a game is if the Giants can get to Brady- which they did a good job of last game. Do I think Tom Coughlin is smart enough to do this? Of course not- the Giants are in this game because Bret Favre threw an interception in overtime and Tynes decided he was due for a field goal after missing the last two or three or how many it was. Also, Coughlin looks like a forest-dwelling rodent so that can't be good.
2) The Aging Patriot Defense: When I say aging Patriot defense I mostly mean "the aging Patriot linebackers". No one starting in the big game is under 30 years old, which means they have any where from eight to (gasp) eighteen seasons under their belts. And if you have eyes, or if you've seen the Patriot's scores this season, you'll see there is an increasing trend to score on the Pats' D. Also, because I have a friend that is a Dolphins fan who excruciatingly watched all of their games this season I simply don't want Junior Seau getting a ring. He is a bastard. That Miami team was in bad enough shape as it is, and to cheat them out of at least a fifth round draft pick is like telling me you're not going for ice cream and then coming home with a scoop or two of Rocky Road in a waffle cone. You can go straight to hell after you do something like that to me. You really can.
So who do I pick to win? The question first is who do I want to win? That would be the Giants. As a Colts fan I could never want the Pats to win anything, not even a lottery for a kidney one player might so desperately might need later on life. However, Tom Brady and company are just too dang good this year, plus as much as I hate to say it the Pats might have the hottest cheerleaders in the league.
My final score prediction?
Patriots-28 Giants-20
